Of course for complex graphics and graphics confined to a particular subject, a person has to first have some knowledge about graphics and what it represents. For eg. To a lay person, statistical representations will be just a series of boxes if he or she does not understand how statistical diagrams or graphical images are presented. On the other hand, anybody can interpret the graphical representation of a figure of a man with a red cross over him on the door. Even if one is not a genius, it can be deduced immediately that one is not allowed to go inside that door. Some books are written using only graphics. Children’s books rely heavily on graphics to present a story or information. Use of zahlenbilder to teach children with special needs is also being strongly propagated by special educators.
